About ASIS&T
Faculty Advisor
Professor Sheila Denn
Sheila is new to the GSLIS faculty (and to the ASIS&T student chapter!) as of fall 2006. She is finishing her dissertation at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science. In her copious free time, she knits, crochets, beads, watches birds, and in season watches UNC basketball. Her current research interests are information use behaviors and cognition and human-computer interaction.
Officers
Chair: Ben Florin
Ben is a North Carolina transplant. He has a BA in English from UNC-Chapel Hill with a focus in Creative Writing. After college, he worked as a web programmer, records manager, and world traveler until he decided to return to school and pursue his passion for organizing all the world's information. His interests include classification and semantic technologies.
Vice-Chair: Jen Langley
Jen grew up down the road and over the river from Simmons. After completing her BA in English from Boston University she worked at various software start-ups and dot-coms until that bubble burst in 2001. Since then she has been the web manager at YouthBuild USA, a youth development non-profit in Somerville. She was a member of GSLIS Information Architecture Project in Fall 2007 and is interested in usability and web development.
Secretary-Treasurer: Sally Legore
Sally grew up in rural Maine where it's a
running joke that there are more cows than people. She attended Brandeis University and received her BA in Mathematics and Philosophy. She loves the
Boston area and works as an assistant cataloger for a corporate library in Cambridge. Her LIS interests include search engines and metadata.
Web Editor: Laura Krier
Laura is originally from California and when it's February in Boston, she can't remember quite why she moved here. She has a BA in Literature and Women's Studies, worked in publishing for three and a half years, and is currently working as Assistant Systems Librarian at Beatley. She's also co-chair of the Progressive Librarians Guild and a copyeditor for Library Student Journal.
