Jeannette Bastian received her M.L.S from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and a M. Phil. in Caribbean Literature from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.  She recently completed her Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Information Sciences, where she served as a teaching fellow before joining the GSLIS faculty in September 1999. 

Prior to her teaching fellow position, Dr. Bastian was the Director and Territorial Librarian of the Division of Libraries and Archives in the U.S. Virgin Islands and served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas.  Her publications include several articles and books that focus on West Indian literature and the Virgin Islands.
