Personal Statement:

The field internships are key to any MSW program and I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of helping students match their interests to various practice opportunities and then chose internship sites. As their field and faculty advisor and liaison between the school and the student's agency, I have the unique opportunity to watch the student's developing professional skills unfold. At a later point the Field Department helps prepare for the post-MSW job world.

My background includes teaching Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Organizational Contexts of Social Work Practice, and Psychopathology. I'm the "in-house" expert on social work licensing and co-teach a licensing exam review course in a continuing education program. I have consulted to many agencies on DSM-IV and diagnostic assessment skills. My practice specialization is in adult mental health. I worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry in the past and currently maintain a private practice.

My research interests include the impact of managed care on social work practice and student training in health and mental health. Some of this work was published in Humane Managed Care?, NASW Press.
