


APPLE COMPUTERS, INC.
In 1987, shortly after the release of Apple's Mac II and Hypercard,
Apple Computer, Inc. donated 3 sets of Mac II as well as laser printer
of the latest model for the R&D work of PROJECT EMPEROR-I, directed by Prof.
Chen. The earliest version of the Hypercard-based interactive
software together with The First Emperor of China videodiscs
were featured at the Apple booth at the MacWorld in August 1987.
During 1987 to 1991, various divisions and regional offices of Apple
were responsible for providing the cutting-edge hardware setup for
many presentations offered by Dr. Chen in various parts of the
country and the world.
During 1989-90, Dr. Chen also worked with the Multimedia Group
of Apple in San Francisco, CA in their development of multimedia
demonstration products. She contributed both actual vidoe footage
and images as well as hypercard-based interactive program for
Apple's production of The Visual Almanac ( a videodisc with a
set of 20 floppy disks with Hypercard programs), published in 1989,
and the CD-ROM based Multimedia Encyclopedia for Higher
Education, published by Apple in 1990.
