The Activities

€ Professor and Associate Dean, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Simmons College.
€ Author/editor of 26 books and over 100 journal articles on information technology and management.
€ Editor-in-Chief of a quarterly international journal, Microcomputers for Information management: Global Internetworking for Libraries.
€ Director of over 60 continuing education institutes relating to information technology, management and policy. Latest ones include topics on virtual library, digital library, Internet and WWW, etc.
€ Director of a series of 8 Science Reference Institutes to over 5(00 school and public libraries in Massachusetts in 1994.
€ Chief Organizer of a series of 8 international conferences on new information technology (NIT) sponsored by the U.S. National Commission On Libraries and Information Science since 1987 to promote global information sharing.

€ Distinguished Alumnus Awards from her Alma Maters including the University of Michigan School of Library Science (1980) and National Taiwan University (1983).
€ ASIS Outstanding Information Science Teacher Award (1983).
€ Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1985).
€ Distinguished Service Award CALA (1982), and APALA (1992).
€ ALA's Certificates of Appreciation (1985, 1989, 1993).
€ LlTA/Gaylord Award for Achievement in Library Information Technology (1990).
€ LITA/Library Hi Tech Award (1994).
€ Emerson Greenaway Distinguished Award of the New England Library Association (1994).
€ Her biography listed in over 30 major biographical reference sources, including American Men & Women of Science, Directory of Distinguished Americans, Foremost Women of the Twentieth Century, and Who's Who in the East.

Innovator

Her pioneering work in interactive multimedia application development has won her many awards and recognition. Her internationally known The First Emperor of China multimedia CD-ROM was chosen by MacUser (October 1994) as one of the 50 best CDROMs for 1994; the videodisc version also won the Cindy Award
of the Association for Visual Communicators in 1992. Her expertise and extensive background in the use of new information technology makes her the best qualified leader to lead the ALA in this digital environment.
