  • A series of talks on the subject of multimedia, digital, and optical technologies were given at the Chung-san University, Guangtong Provincial Library, and the County Library in Guangzhow, China during Dr. Chen's consultancy trip to Chung-san Univeristy in March 1995.












  • "New Horizons in Information Delivery: HyperMedia Information Provision," was the special invited speech given at the International Symposium on New Horizons in Agricultural Information Management, March 13-16, 1990, Beijing, China, organized by Scientech Documentation and Information Centre, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.













  • "Library and Information Science Education," and "New Information Technology and Its Applications to Library and Information Work," were two public lectures given at the Beijing Normal University for library and information professionals from Beijing and neighboring cities, March 14-15, 1990, Beijing, China.












  • "Interactive Video Discs and the First Emperor of China: A Case Presentation on PROJECT EMPEROR-I's Qin Terracotta Figures," was a keynote speech delivered at the International Symposium on New Techniques and Applications in Libraries, Xian, China, September 7, 1988.














  • "Libraries in the Information Age: New Media, New Mission, and New Challenge," was a keynote speech delivered at the International Symposium on New Techniques and Applications in Libraries, Xian, China, September 7, 1988.














  • "Developmental Trends in Optical Disc Technology," was a special talk presented at the Computer Measurement & Control Corporation of the Ministry of Astronautics, Beijing, June 12, 1986.

  • "Interactive Videodisc Technology and Its Potential to China's Modernization," was a speech delivered in Beijing, China, August 19, 1985.

  • "New Technology and Information Management and Processing," was the topic of several invited speeches given at the Shaanxi Telecommunication Institute in Xian, the Wuhan University in Wuhan, the Hong Kong Library Association Meeting in Hong Kong, and the TamKang University in Taipei in January, 1984.

  • "Videodisc and Museum Information Storage and Handling," was a presentation made at the palace Museum, Beijing, and to the Bureau of Museum and Archaeological Affairs staff in Xian, China, January, 1984.

  • "The Role of New Technology in Information Age," was the topic of several public speeches delivered at Ming-shu Kong, Beijing, at Academy of Sciences Library and the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) in January, 1984.



  • "Information Services in the 1980's -- What Are the Urgent Needs in China," was the speech given at Chengdu University, Sichuan, PROC on June 18, 1982.

  • "Library and Information Work: How to Relate It to User Needs With and Without New Technology Applications," was the speech given at the Chongching Branch of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, in June 1982.

  • "Library and Information Science Developments: Where Are We Heading To? What Are the Implications for China?" was delivered to 500 Fujian librarians and information workers at a special meeting sponsored by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, the Fujian Provincial Science Commission, Fujian Information Science Society and Fujian Library Association, People's Republic of China, on May 31, 1982.

  • "Education and Training of Medical Librarians," was given to medical librarians in Canton, Guangtong Provincial People's Hospital, on July 23, 1980.

  • ''Library and Information Science Education in the U.S.,'' was presented to the medical library and information professionals in Shanghai, China on July 2, 1980.

  • "New Trends in Technology Applications and Scientific Management - Potentials for Chinese Library & Information Development," was a talk sponsored by the Chinese Library Association and the National Peking Library, held at the History Museum, Peking, June 7, 1979.

  • "New Technology, Networking, Scientific Management of Information Centers - Current Status and Future Prospects," was a talk sponsored by the Fukien Library Association, Foochow, June 4, 1979.

  • "Foreign Language, Communication, and Science," was discussed at the Institute of Atomic Energy, Shanghai, May 28, 1979.

  • "New Technology and Scientific Information Work," was a talk given at the Academic Sinica (Academy of Sciences), Shanghai, May 27, 1979.
