23. Study on "The Use of Optical Products in European Libraries in 1989" (with Dr. David I. Raitt as co-consultant and co-investigator for the International Federation for Information and Documentation (FID), sponsored by Commission of the European Communities, NORDINFO, and FID. This major survey is based on Dr. Chen's earlier studies on the use of optical products in American academic libraries in 1987, and in American academic, public, and special libraries in 1988. This major study was completed in late 1989, and the final report was published in January 1990 by FID.
24. Analysis of the studies on optical product utilization in American libraries - 1990. The results together with those of the FID Survey are being integrated and will be publishing in my 21st book, Optical Discs in Libraries: Use & Trends, to be published by Learned Information in the second half of 1990.
25. Study of Hypermedia and Chinese-Language information handling. This new investigation area has been supported by both the Emily Hollowell Fund for Research and the Simmons College Fund for Research. The project started in late Spring of 1990 with the software support from XanaTech. It is only at the beginning stage and will continue through next academic year.
