THE CLOSING 2-MINUTE STATEMENT

In my first 5-minute statement, I chose to provide you with a macro introduction on my qualifications. Now, I want to speak on my ALA involvement.

As an active crusader in ALA since 1976, I take great pride in my service to the ALA as a three-term Councilor-at-Large. I have had extensive committee involvement including the member and Chair of the Council Committee on Legislation; member of the Council elected Assembly of Planning and Budget; Director of the Board of LITA, etc. I know the ALA well and I do have the political savvy to be able to advocate and lobby effectively for the ALA at this crucial time.

Librarianship has been good to me, it is time for me to repay by offering my service, not because I am not busy enough or for my own glory, but because I truly can be that best leader which I talked about earlier, who can and will meet the needs and aspiration of all of you regardless types of librarians, in this digital environment.

If you can receive me fairly and look at what I did in the past, and speculate on what I may be able to accomplish for the ALA, with a clear and non-colored lense, then I am sure that you will realize that the time has come to give chance to and to pass the torch to a new breed of leaders who will build on the ALA's past and present accomplishments, and lead the ALA to a new horizon in this digital age. I can be that kind of leader, who is committed to the ALA's Goal 2000 and can move the ALA ONE STEP BEYOND! I will be able to represent all of you nationally and internationally with authority, distinction, and dignity.

If you want further information about me, I would be so pleased if you would visit my web site when you return home:
