Ching-chih Chen Distinguished Alumnus Not many people could follow bibliography with differential equations (though they may share some qualities), but it's the story of her life. As librarian, she worked with scientists; as scientist, she trains librarians. Space and time are scarcely dimensions to her. She has lived in three countries; in one year she gave addresses from New York eight thousand miles to Shanghai and return. Her careers keep no account of time: eight books in just six years -- and she's teacher and dean; a member of ten professional groups -- and she's working in most of them. Two dozen articles and almost half a hundred talks are on her list; she manages somehow to carry a course or two besides, and continuing education is a pride with her. She is Newman's uncommon person, the discoverer and teacher caught in one.
To Ching-chih Chen, writer, researcher, teacher, administrator, the School of Library
Science is pleased to present its Distinguished Alumnus Award. |
