NIT Background

Greetings everyone:

NIT 2001 's tentative program suggests that we will have a very exciting program. I wish to take this chance to thank you for your interest in NIT 2001.

We have very tight timeline, and therefore I wish to provide you some guidelines for preparing your final paper, once your proposed paper is accepted.

Here are some of the useful information:

PAPER PREPARATION:

Deadline:

Yet to be decided.

Early submission of your paper ahead of the deadlines is appreciated, so that we will not be facing a backlog of papers.

How to prepare and send your paper:

  • Each paper needs to be in the format as a "finished" article, but not in the summary or outline format as normally prepared by using presentation software like PowerPoint.
  • Each paper should not be more than 8 pages generally (single-space on 8.5x11 page) unless prearranged with the organizers. Poster-session papers should be submitted at short papers in two pages.
  • All papers should be prepared electronically using software WORD by using popular font (like Time, Palentino) and size (12 points). The files should be saved in two formats -- the usual WORD file, and the TEXT file. Tables and graphics within the WORD file should also be printed separately. Other graphics should be saved in .JPG format. All these files can be sent via email in attached way.

    Chinese papers:
    Please send to:

      Ms. Yangyi
      email: yy@mail.lib.tsinghua.edu.cn

    Papers from sources outside China:
    Please send to:

  • When you send your paper via email, please indicate under SUBJECT: PAPER FOR NIT. All submission should be sent twice so that one copy can be served as backup just in case one is not transmitted properly.

PAPER PRESENTATION:

Unless prearranged, due to the large number of expected papers, all will be presented with a very strict time allowance -- at this time, we are thinking of 10 minutes with perhaps 2-3 minutes additional for Q&A.

Since your full papers will be available at the conference in the published Proceedings, we request the presenters NOT to read the papers. Instead, we encourage the presenters to prepare PowerPoint like slides with main points highlighted.

I hope that you find this communication helpful. Should you have more questions, please feel free to contact me.

Looking forward to receiving your completed papers soon.
