What's new in FontExplorer X?

This version of FontExplorer X includes several new features to make it easy to manage your fonts. To learn more about FontExplorer X, search FontExplorer X Help and visit the FontExplorer X website.

Duplicate Management

FontExplorer X now lets you import all duplicates contained in your font collection. The import warning has been extended for this purpose by an option called "Import font as duplicate". As you'll probably want to handle your duplicates, the Conflicts have been changed appropriately.

Labels

Labels, as you know them from the Finder or other applications, are now available in FontExplorer X. They will help you easily mark and find your favorite and project-related fonts.

Import Options

The import dialog now lets you filter the fonts you'll import by format. It is no longer a problem to import only specific font types, for instance, OpenType fonts or PostScript based OpenType fonts.

Improved Font Activation

When activating a font containted in a suitcase, earlier versions of FontExplorer X activated the whole suitcase due to a limitation in Mac OS X. Now, however, it is for instance possible to (de)activate the "Helvetica Neue Bold Italic" font instead of the whole "HelveticaNeue" suitcase.

Please note that this feature is limited to Mac OS X version 10.4 or higher.

Improved Auto-Activation

FontExplorer X now supports auto-activation for QuarkXPress 7.0. The new Plug-In Manager will promt you to install the Plug-In if you have QuarkXPress 7.0 installed. Besides this new addition, the other Plug-Ins for QuarkXPress 6.5, Adobe InDesign CS/CS2 and Adobe Illustrator CS/CS2 have been improved to deliver more stability and functionality.
