BUILDING SALE UPDATES The inside portion of their work will be done on each floor. They will be cutting small holes in the ceilings and walls to look at the structural beams and building materials. The ceiling holes will be about 10'' by 10'' and will be patched up within a week. The wall holes will be very small. The processes takes about 15 minutes at each stop to complete and they will provide drop clothes, as to not leave any kind of residue. The second part of their work will be done in the basements of the buildings and the outside of the buildings. They will be testing the structural soundness of the buildings by drilling holes in the walls and floors. This process could be slightly loud. This test has started in 407 and will work back toward the 419 building. If you have any questions or concerns please call or email Emily Gibbons in Operations at x3844 or Mary D at x3813. Thanks very much! |

the Career Services Office: The Forum lasts one week. In the course of Forum USA 2004, 1100 recent university graduates met with representatives from 40 French companies, associations and research institutes. Thanks to the Forum USA, recruiters issued more than 150 jobs and internship offers and selected more than 325 candidates for second-round interviews. Forum USA is originally focused on students specialized in engineering and hard sciences - cf. the statistics regarding the candidates who attended Forum USA 2004. As we did last year we have widened our focus to include candidates having an MBA to better respond to recruiters' needs. Similarly, newly arrived non-French candidates will likely comprise 25-35% of forum attendants. Forum USA 2005 will be held consecutively in Boston (April 2, 3 &4) and San Francisco (April 6 & 7). The Forum USA will make candidates' resumes available to the exhibitors and will schedule interviews for them. Candidates can register for the event through our website at www.forumusa.org until February 15th 2005. Note that Forum USA offers a free night in the hotel the night before the event for the first 100 registrants for Boston and the first 60 registrants for San Francisco (candidates must live at least 60 miles from the Forum to be eligible). |

Deborah M. Kolb, the Deloitte Ellen Gabriel Professor for Women and Leadership, published an article based on her latest book, Her Place at the Table: A Woman’s Guide to Negotiating the Five Key Challenges to Leadership Success, in the January issue of Harvard Business School’s Negotiation Newsletter. The article, written with Linda Putnam, discusses opportunities available to new leaders that aid in negotiating the conditions needed to perform well in a new role. Jill Kickul presented two papers at the annual United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) conference in Palm Springs in January. The two papers were titled “An immersion into the dynamic capabilities model of innovation: An empirical test involving e-entrepreneurs” ( presented with Jianwen Liao of Northeastern University) and “E2 opportunities and future strategies: Modeling student preferences using a discrete choice analysis approach” (presented with Rohit Verma of David Eccles Graduate Business School, University of Utah and Gerhard Plaschka of DePaul University). Bobbie Carrey SOM’84 will perform on Ron Della Chiesa’s Jazz Songbook radio show, to air Sunday, February 13 on WGBH 89.7 FM at 8:00 p.m. The Jazz Songbook features music from the great American songbook as interpreted by popular vocalists and jazz instrumentalists. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the show will feature Bobbi Carrey & Will McMillan, with Doug Hammer on piano, performing songs from and talking about their new CD, If I Loved You. EVENTS MBA
