QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"There will always be dreams grander or humbler than your own, but there will never be a dream exactly like your own...for you are unique and more wondrous than you know!" ~ Linda Staten

"Give yourself an even greater challenge than the one you are trying to master and you will develop the powers necessary to overcome the original difficulty." ~ William J. Bennett - The Book of Virtues

NOTE FROM MARY D.
We are ending week #9 of the summer term. Last night we had the first round of graduation meetings, which is great for the students that are counting the days until August 5th. The flip side is for those of who started in January or are midway through the program, you wonder if you will ever make it through another year or two! The answer is yes, and that you should be motivated by the fact that each week brings you closer to your dream of getting your MBA. It is hard in the middle to believe that you have the stamina and perserverance to keep going, but the women graduating in 42 days are a testament to the fact that you will!! You have a long weekend coming over the 4th of July, take some time off, spend it with friends and family, have some fun! You will be more able to focus and will get the spurt of energy you need to get through the month of July and the end of the semester!

REGISTRATION
Registration is open through June 30th at 8pm. Public Speaking B has 2 spots left as of 6/23.

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE! - ENTREPRENEURSHIP CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
The Entrepreneurship Certificate Program applications are available. Applications are due by July 8th and should be submitted to the MBA Admissions Office. To obtain an application or if you have questions, contact Suzzette Turnbull at suzzette.turnbull@simmons.edu or at 617.521.3839. If you're interested in this program or just curious, we encourage you to attend the informational meeting on Wednesday, June 29th, 3:30-4:00 p.m.

For those students who are graduating in subsequent years, there will be an opportunity to apply to the program every July.

COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL
Do you wear pink on a gloomy day to brighten your mood? Is black the only color in your closet? Depending on your answer, there could be a direct connection between why you make the color choices you do and your personality traits! If you are curious about why you wear the colors you do, attached is a survey of nine questions designed to determine if your fashion choices, favorite colors and personality are related by comparing your color preferences to your MBTI score. Your input is greatly appreciated!

The survey will only take about 10 minutes and will only be available online until Saturday, July 2nd. If you would like to participate but do not feel that you will be able to fill out the survey by then, a hard copy will be posted on Track Forum. Data will only be collected until Wednesday, July 6th.

Thank you very much for taking the time to fill out the survey! The results will be posted upon completion. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Shapiro at mary.shapiro@simmons.edu or Debbie Rosenthal at rosenthd@simmons.edu.

ATTENTION CLASS of 2005: JOIN SIMMONS SOM eGROUP
This SOM alumnae e-group is open to students in the June prior to their graduation.

Stay in Touch with Alumnae without Leaving Your Desk!

Wish you could stay in touch with other alumnae from the convenience of your own desk? Then join the lively email discussion group of SOM alumnae. It's moderated, in a low-key minimal way, by Peg Kelley '88. The group now has more than 150 members, and all SOM alumnae are invited! Current students may subscribe in the June before graduation. Topics include job opportunities, events of interest to alumnae and working women, requests for information, news of business funding options...and more. How to join? Go to http://www.yahoo.com and click on Groups/Clubs in the "connect" area toward the top of the home page. This will bring you to a page that says, "What is a Group?" and "Join a Group." Under "Join a Group" enter simmonssom (all lowercase and no spaces) and select search. Now you will be at our group page. If you're already a member of Yahoo, then just click "sign in" on the upper right. If you're not a member of Yahoo, click on "register" on the upper right, and enter the requested information. It's FREE. You will then be admitted to the list. Peg will send you a welcome note to confirm your subscription. (It takes more words to describe the process than time to do it!) If you have any questions or difficulty subscribing, contact Peg at 617.926.4845 or via email at kelley@facplus.com.

In addition, Jill and Fiona (in partnership with colleagues from the University of Bodo, Norway) presented their paper, "Across Cultural And Economic Boundaries: Modeling Cognitions, Norms, And Motivations Onto Entrepreneurial Self-efficacy And Intentionality."

Lindsay Titus ('05), Jill Kickul, and Patrick Murphy (DePaul University), using some of the recent research from the Panel Survey of Entrepreneurial Dynamics (PSED) presented a paper on "Contextualizing Legitimacy, Risk Preference, and Social Capital For Women Entrepreneurs." Also, in partnership with Norris Krueger (Boise State University) and as a follow-up to the work by Laney Whitcanack ('05) and Jill on entrepreneurial cognition, a talk was given on "Choice Modeling Of Venture Preferences: The Impact Of Mental Prototyping."

Finally, Laney Whitcanack and Jill Kickul are collaborating on an international study with Alain Fayolle, E.M.
