MBA OFFICE COVERAGE DURING THANKSGIVING
Wednesday, November 24 8:30-noon
Thursday, November 25, closed
Friday, November 26 closed

NOTE FROM MARY D
Happy Thanksgiving!!

REGISTRATION UPDATES
We are offering a new course called IT management being taught by Mary Finlay, Deputy CIO of Partners Health Care. Currently it has a low enrollment and am hoping to convince some of you to take it. This course is will taught at the strategic level, teaching you how IT strategy is developed and implemented and how technology trends are impacting corporations. It is designed to help you as future leaders to work effectively with the IT organization in your corporations. Many students still have to register, so I am hopeful we will get enough of students to run the course as I think it is an important addition to our curriculum!!

SOM VIEWBOOK PHOTOGRAPHERS
The new viewbook is still in process and they folks that were around in the early fall in the classrooms will be back but not in class! They will be looking to photograph small groups, folks at the computers, chatting, on the bench outside Mockler, very informal pictures! We will give you more detail as we get it!

Parking on Weekends
If you park in a Simmons spot on the weekend please put a note on your dash that you are a student and where you can be located. With winter approaching it may be necessary to tow during bad weather and we would like people to get into the habit of placing that info on their dash. Thank you.

SPRING UPDATES
Accounting A is moving its first class only, from Monday, January 3 at 1pm to Thursday, January 6 at 9:15am.
Finance class one will still follow on Thursday January 6 at 1pm.

SUMMER REGISTRATION UPDATES
Contemporary Issues in Marketing has been added as a summer elective. It will be offered Monday mornings from 9-12pm from May 2 to June 27, with two Fridays 6/3 and 6/17 from 9-12pm.

Book Buyback Time
Buyback will be available from Wednesday, November 17th through December 23rd, 2004. Books that are being used again in the spring semester can be sold back to the bookstore at 50% return during this time. Remember that the bookstore will be buying only for the amount of students enrolled for the spring semester so not all students may receive 50%. In other words if 20 students are enrolled for marketing, then the bookstore will only buy 20 copies back from students. Any student coming in after the 20 would receive a wholesale amount which could be significantly lower. Any questions please contact Deb or Brooke at the bookstore (617-521-2054). Note: You must go to the main campus bookstore to take advantage of this opportunity.

20% Off Spring Semester T-Passes!
Spring 2005 Semester T-Pass Order Forms will be placed in your mailbox this week. If you would like to receive a 20% discount from the MBTA, fill out this form and return it with your check, to the Office of Leadership and First Year Programs (300 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02215) by January 6th, 2005.

SPACE TRANSITION FOLLOWUP
Many students have asked me to add some more detail to Acting Dean Deborah Merrill-Sands email about the space and the buildings that was sent to all students on November 5. The new building will not be ready for us to move until at least 2007-08. As a result, just about all of you will have graduated from the SOM! The biggest changes for students currently in progress will happen next summer, and will be carefully planned to minimalize any disruption to your studies, deliverables, and classes. We do need to move everyone and everything out of the 419 building by August, 2005, and there are lots of dominos in terms of who is moved first, what needs to be done to x space to have y happen, etc. We will keep everyone in the communication loop as it becomes more clearly defined, and having this move be as seamless as possible for all of you is at the top of my priority list!! Mary D

Assistance Needed with Research Project
Jamie Ladge '02 is working on a research project and is hoping some SOM students might be interested in assisting her. She is looking to understand the re-entry process of women as they return back to work after maternity leave. Some of the pyschological issues she is looking to untease include changes in self-identity and coping mechanisms used to deal with the transition. She is specifically interested in working women with at least five years of professional work experience. They also must be around three to eight months post-partum and have returned to the same position they were in when they started in the same full-time capacity. However, It has to be the first child.
If you fit this description, please email her at ladge@bc.edu. The interview should only take about an hour or so and she is willing to meet in person or by phone. Information provided in the interview is completely confidential and names will be disguised if quotes are used in the final report. All women who participate will be entered into a drawing where the winner will receive $100.

Financial Aid Information

Financial Aid Updates

Is there a financial hold on your registration? If so, contact the Office of Student Financial Services. We have financial aid officers and student account representatives who can assist you with payment arrangement options so that you can register for the January term.

Already registered for the January term? Your loan funds are expected to arrive on January 13th. Classes begin on January 3rd. If your Stafford loan funds will cover your billed charges, there is no need to make an advance payment. In the even that your loan funds will not cover your billed charges, your payment is due on December 15th. We expect to mail billing statements next week. If you do not receive a bill for any reason, please contact one of our Student Account Representatives.

Want to anticipate your billed charges? It's easy! Tuition is charged at a rate of $810 per credit with an activity fee of $25 per semester. Multiply the number of credits for which you are registered by $810 and add $25. You can then refer to your award letter to determine if your charges will exceed your aid for the semester.
