are essential to our success. In exchange for your help, you will be
permitted to attend the Conference FREE. (Conference fees are normally

The Timilty School has been a community partner of Simmons for many years. It is located in the John Eliot Square area of Roxbury not too far from Simmons. It serves over 650 children each of who will need a pen pal. We hope that you will consider being a part of this wonderful opportunity. The Scott/Ross Center for Community Service facilitates and promotes service learning and community service for the Simmons community and develops community partnerships.

Financial
Aid Updates Is there a financial hold on your registration? If so, contact the Office of Student Financial Services. We have financial aid officers and student account representatives who can assist you with payment arrangement options so that you can register for the January term. Already registered for the January term? Your loan funds are expected to arrive on January 13th. Classes begin on January 3rd. If your Stafford loan funds will cover your billed charges, there is no need to make an advance payment. In the even that your loan funds will not cover your billed charges, your payment is due on December 15th. We expect to mail billing statements next week. If you do not receive a bill for any reason, please contact one of our Student Account Representatives. Want to anticipate your billed charges? It's easy! Tuition is charged at a rate of $810 per credit with an activity fee of $25 per semester. Multiply the number of credits for which you are registered by $810 and add $25. You can then refer to your award letter to determine if your charges will exceed your aid for the semester. Student

Although the focus of the career fair is on the European job market, companies attending the fair have recruited for positions in the USA and other countries in the past. All areas of research and study are welcome! We do encourage graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to attend as well as undergraduates and young professionals. Dr. Deborah Kolb, Deloitte Ellen Gabriel Professor for Women and Leadership, was the featured speaker at the Greater Boston Chamber Women's Network Breakfast on November 17. Her talk, entitled "Passing the Test: Negotiating for Leadership Success," was sponsored by Accenture. Dr. Kolb was also quoted as a negotiations expert in the November issue of Money magazine. In the article "How to ask your boss for more," Kolb suggests that employees asking for a raise must be able to defend the request. Andrea Lyons SOM '89 was the featured speaker at the Entrepreneurship Forum of New England's Entrepreneurship Café on December 2, held in Providence, RI. Lyons, Chief Executive Goddess of Goddess Granola, spoke about the role of sustainability and social responsibility in making a profitable business. Harriette Chandler SOM '83 was featured in the October 8 issue of the Item (Clinton, MA). The article "Chandler is looking forward to doing what she loves to do" describes Chandler's enthusiasm around her reelection campaign in the First Worcester Senate District. SOM Professor Stacy Blake-Beard was quoted in the October 6 edition of the Winston-Salem Journal, in the article "Burned out: Trump's firing method isn't reality, experts say." Blake-Beard says The Apprentice's message is to look out for yourself above all else, and that, in reality, organizations promote the star. The Simmons School of Management receives mention in the October issue of Working Mother magazine. In a news brief about Pfizer, Inc., the global pharmaceutical company is mentioned as joining with the SOM to give Pfizer women more opportunities to network with peers from other industries. SOM Professor Cynthia Ingols was quoted in the October 28 Boston Herald. In the article "Women Still Trail Men In Pay Levels By a Wide Margin," Ingols says women may be discouraged about finding work within traditional corporate settings, but they tend to give themselves more permission to make unconventional career decisions. Evangelina Holvino, senior research faculty at the Center for Gender in Organizations, was quoted in the October/November issue of Audrey magazine. In the article "Upward bound: Getting past the culture clash in corporate America," Holvino says women of color have a tougher climb up the corporate ladder than do white women, because white women - being the daughters, wives, and mothers of white men - have more access to white men, and thus have less of a gap to bridge. Dee Lee SOM '93 was the keynote speaker at the Wyoming Women's Money conference held in Cheyenne on October 15. The conference will focus on women and money management, small business, divorce and money, mortgages, and estate planning. EVENTS: Dr. Deborah
