  • Curriculum Vita
  • Personal Statement:

I joined the Simmons College School of Social Work in the Field Education Department in 2005 with a mission to work primarily with our Extended Program students. I am excited to be working closely with these students who are committed to earning the MSW despite managing concurrent commitments in their work and personal lives. My priority is to help students make constructive and achievable decisions about their academic path and responsibilities while maintaining a healthy work/school/personal balance.

My relationship with Simmons started in 1994 when I served as a field supervisor for the College, a relationship that continued for more than a decade with at least one Simmons intern each year.

My social work experience includes more than a decade at Salem State College, Counseling & Health Services, as a clinician, administrator and director of training; at City Year doing program development, community service and youth development; at Roxbury Youthworks, Inc., doing community-based social work, primarily working in Juvenile Services of Roxbury District Court and Outreach & Tracking; and at the Dimock Community Health Center providing home-based services to an at-risk population of pregnant and parenting women.

In addition to being an educator my primary professional interest is clinical practice, especially working with young adults and adults around family of origin issues, ethnic and racial identity, adoption, and trauma histories.
