    Personal Statement:

Prior to joining the Simmons School of Social Work as full-time faculty I had enjoyed several years as an adjunct member, becoming familiar with the school, the faculty and students, the community, and the very unique environment we think of as "Simmons". It was an interesting and instructive experience then, and is even more so now. As a Faculty Advisor in the Field Education Department, I have the opportunity to bring my interest in education and my passion for good practice together in the work I do with students, in the relationships I have with colleagues, and through the contacts and connections with our training sites across the state. Like the many years of integrated practice that came before my coming to Simmons, this opportunity constantly offers me new and varied experiences that I'm sure could not be matched in any other area of work! It is probably one of the primary factors, so many years ago, motivating my choice of Social Work as a field of study; that and a deep abiding interest in justice and equality. The combination of faculty responsibilities here at Simmons and clinical experiences in my private practice make for a rich and rewarding life, each feeding, shaping, modifying, and informing the other.
