On this site you will find a bit of information about me and my work in information organization, a core area of library and information science. I am a professor at Simmons University's School of Library and Information Science (SLIS). Before arriving in Boston, I received my MLIS and Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Information Sciences (now the School of Computing and Information). Before moving to Arlington, Mass., I lived in Cambridge, Mass., Pittsburgh, Pa., San Francisco, Calif., Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Ga., rural Kentucky, and Fairbanks, Alaska. I am originally from Southern Maryland. I am the author of two widely used textbooks in the LIS field, The Organization of Information and Introduction to Cataloging and Classfication. |
