Yonsei-LIS and Simmons GSLIS Dual Degree
Earn a Master of Arts at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea while working towards your degree from Simmons. As part of the partnership agreement between Yonsei-LIS and Simmons GSLIS, Yonsei will accept up to five Simmons GSLIS students per academic year. Students who complete the program will graduate with an M.A. in library and information science from Yonsei University and an M.S. in library and information science from Simmons College.
Yonsei-LIS and Simmons GSLIS are well-suited partners. The Yonsei-LIS program was the first to be established in Korea. Similarly, Simmons has one of the oldest LIS programs in the United States. The two programs also have complementary offerings. Yonsei-LIS has a particular strength in Information Science and offers courses that are not available at Simmons.

Program Details
Yonsei University
- All coursework in English
- Five courses (15 credits)
- Major paper about 40 pages in length
- Two semesters in residence at Yonsei
- There is an opportunity to take some of the Yonsei-LIS courses online
Simmons College
- Ten courses (30 credits), including the five core courses
- All other requirements of the Simmons GSLIS program, including successful completion of the Technology Orientation Requirement (TOR) in the first semester
Scholarship Opportunities available
- One fully funded scholarship opportunity available, which includes Yonsei tuition and entrance fees
- Research associate positions available for reduced tuition

- A complete application form with a 3x4cm photo attached (photo taken within 3 months) due during the Application submission window in April.
- Two letters of recommendation written in English by two professors from a previous university or graduate school
- Official undergraduate transcript and the Certificate of Graduation
- Official certificate of Enrollment at Simmons GSLIS
- Statement of Purpose (no designated form)
- A copy of passport

After acceptance, Yonsei-LIS will help you obtain a D-2 Visa needed. To qualify for the Visa the Korean government requires students or their sponsors to show proof (such as a bank statement) that he/she has minimum of US$10,000.
