I was never a standout artistic student, but I had a drive to try new things, and I always enjoyed my art classes. I didn't paint anything with structure or real formal instruction until my sophomore year of high school.
I had always felt like painting was my medium, and that experience showed me I was right! I loved it right away, and the more structured assignment given to us allowed me to go slower and really think about what I was doing. My first painting on canvas, my second ever, really, was Fall Kicks which I painted in 2014.
From then on I continued to paint in and out of class with the encouragement of my family, teachers, and friends. I was even able to take AP Art my senior year of high school! I was able to make so many awesome pieces, and I continued my process of gridding my pieces and tracing the image by hand before painting which we had learned when I painted my first piece.
In college I studied French and Geology, with an art minor, so I did create, but my painting output lessened. I was able to make big strides in my style thanks to this education, though, by the time I did my Honors Program final project in 2019. I chose to create two paintings and do research into my preferred style, photorealism. I learned so much and I created two of my most popular pieces: Farmhouse, and Sverige.
Since then, I have steadily been creating more pieces while working or going back to school. I do what I do because I love it, and I can't wait to create more in the future!
