    Personal Statement:

I came to the faculty of Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work since 1985, after working in child mental health and community mental health settings for a number of years and earning a doctorate at Boston College. I have had the privilege of teaching MSW courses in social work research and evaluation, professional development, and dynamics of racism and oppression as well as research methods courses at the doctoral level. I serve as director of the Doctoral Program.

I spent the spring 2005 semester on sabbatical with two months in Israel at Tel Aviv University. During my time in Israel, I conducted interviews and agency visits as part of a research project, "Conversations Across Difference: Lessons from Israeli Social Work Faculty and Practitioners." The purpose of the study, funded by the Whiting Foundation, was to engage in conversations with faculty and key informants in agencies engaged in innovative multiculturalpractice to better understand how in the classroom and practice they address the challenges of developing culturally competent practitioners and culturally diverse and responsive child and family programs.

My current research interests are in practice evaluation, child mental health, ethical issues in practice, international social work, multicultural practice, and professional development. Recent publications and presentations have been in these areas.
