2010-2011 officers

Jasmine Jones - President

Jasmine is a second year in the dual-degree Archives/History program. Prior to graduate school, she attended UCLA, receiving her degree in European Studies with a minor in Russian Studies, and worked as an assistant director for a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles. Her interest in archival studies and cultural heritage stem from both of these early endeavors. She currently interns at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies Collection at Harvard University and is the secretary for SCoSAA, the GSLIS student chapter of the Society for American Archivists.

Rebecca Thomson - Vice President

Rebecca is in her second year at Simmons, and is in the general track with a focus on special and academic librarianship. She is especially interested in art, literature, and art history. Last summer, she cataloged a collection of prints as an intern at the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. When she graduates, she hopes to get a job working in either an art school or art museum library.

Erin Smith - Archivist

Erin has been in GSLIS for just over a year, and is working on the Archives/History dual degree. Her passion for history - not limited to any one location or era - has spurred as well as been reinforced by her love of museums of all kinds. She has interned at the Ipswich (MA) Museum, and worked with the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA as part of the Cultural Heritage track. Erin has four years experience working in an academic library. Along with fellow Simmons student Joanna Breen, Erin has also spent the last year spearheading the committee to open a library at Blackstone Elementary in South Boston, structuring and creating a circulation system from scratch.

Rachel Dwyer - Treasurer

Rachel is approximately half-way through the GSLIS program, with a focus on archives. She has most recently worked at a historic movie theatre, a county historical society and the Boston University Science/ Engineering Library. She also interned at the History Project Archives, which preserves the history of the LGBT community in Boston. Her interests include film, early modern theatre, the performing arts, and international librarianship.

Rebecca Franz - Webmaster

Rebecca is a second year GSLIS student. Although her area of concentration is archives management, she is also interested in preservation and art librarianship. Prior to enrolling at Simmons College, she received a BFA in painting and drawing from Wichita State University and her MFA in painting from The San Francisco Art Institute. Rebecca is currently a cataloging/archives intern at The Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University.
