Athanasia (Nancy) Pontika comes from Larissa, a lovely town in the middle of Greece. In 2005 she graduated from the School of Librarianship and Information Systems, Athens- Greece. She was working for a year in a research program in the School of Librarianship and Information Systems. For almost two years she was a Chief librarian at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). In 2007 she started her Doctoral studies in the Library and Information Science PhD Program, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, Simmons College. She is an active member of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T), including contributions as member of the Membership Committee and co-administrator of the International Calendar of Information Science Conferences. Her main area of interest is copyright issues for librarians and the open access movement and she is an Assistant Editor at the Open Access Directory.
