  • Curriculum Vita
  • Personal Statement:

I teach courses in two areas: research and racism. At first glance they would appear very different but I have found that they share characteristics which make them exciting for me as a teacher and, I hope, for my students. Both areas demand an effort to hone the skill of thinking independently for oneself, and at the same time, to bind this effort at independent judgment to a capacity to listen to others, offer contrasting viewpoints and perspectives, and to ground one's worldview in a social context which can be shared and communicated. My interest in teaching these courses is to create a living content which facilitates this level of professional growth.
