---- The Seminar on Supervision
As a member of the Field Education Department I work closely with students to determine the best fit in the choice of a field placement. I also advise students, develop new field placements, and teach a seminar for new field supervisors. I am a member of the core faculty for the Urban Leadership program and I advise students in the DSS/Urban Leadership program and in the One Year Placement Option.
Before joining the Simmons faculty, I worked for many years in community mental health as a clinician and also as the director of a clinic in a low-income housing development. While there I helped to start "The Welcome Project", a grassroots agency that provides services for refugees and immigrants, and also works to promote the development of a strong multi-cultural community. I continue to be involved with the Welcome Project, currently serving as an executive committee board member.
Since coming to Simmons, I have developed an interest in, and written about, the unique fit between clinical social work and case management. My interest is in the area of articulating the advanced clinical practice skills used by social workers in the case management role and in identifying emerging trends for social work careers.
