Objective of Site: Apple's objective is to market and sell their products consisting of iPhones, iPads, Macs, Watches, AirPods, TVs, and various other accessories.
Target Audience: Apple's target audience is extreamly wide since it is one of the leading tech brands in the world. I would say they try their best to target everyone, but in reality they require their audience to have hundreds of excess dollars to spend on new tech. So... their target audience is people who have money, and people who are interested in becoming or are already involved with smart phones/tvs/computers/watches.
Content of Site: The main content of Apple's site is most definitely their products. Along the top of the nearly every page on their site is a navigation menu which allows users to easily switch between learning about Apple's various products. Once you click on each of these links, the site brings you to a section of the website where several pages exist to teach users about the specific product. They have information such as pricing, models, usability, and FAQs. Aside from their products, the only other service the Apple Website has is their Support page, where users can troubleshoot their technology questions and speak with/set up an appointment with one of their support staff.
Design Qualities: Everything that exists on the Apple Website is thorough, sleek, and contemporary. Each page is built in a similar manner with the same typefaces used consistently in black and white. They do not overwhelm their users or bombard them with information. Instead, information is laid out with lists, making them easily readable, and headings exist everywhere so users know exactly what they are looking at and how it conceptually fits into the site. These design qualities fit in with Apple's objective of being accessible to navigate, but expensive and high-end.
Intuitive?: I found this site extreamly intuitive. No where when I was browsing did I get lost or have a hard time understanding what component of the site I was viewing. The Apple website uses familiar icons such as the magnifying glass for the search bar and the shopping bag for the cart. Also, as an Apple user, everything was familiar and easy to navigate
Target Audience: I'm sure that NYT would like to say that everyone falls within their target audience, but in reality its people with center to left wing political ideologies who have mostly received some sort of hier education.
Content of Site: The New York Time's content is daily global news. Within that extreamly broad label, they have world news, U.S. news, political news, New York news, buiness news, opinion news, science news, health news, sports news, arts news, books news, style news, food news, travel news, magazine news, and real estate news. They also have a cooking section, The Althetic (which focusing on sports reporting), Wirecutter (which seems to focus on home goods, and self improvement), and the NYT Games (which is home to several fun and short games that change each day). Wow! That didn't really narrow down their content. The overarching idea here is that NYT journalists report on almost everything, and their website is a reflection of this work.
Design Qualities: Compared to Apple's website, the NYT seems very hectic and bombarding. Since I don't visit this website everyday, I feel overwhelmed by the amount of content that is being presented. However, if I take a moment to just look around the website and familiarize myself with the layout it feels less daunting and is actually designed in a comprehensive way. They use familiar icons such as the hamburger for the menu page, and the magnifying glass as a search bar. Each page is broken down usering hierarchical elements such as font, text size, and color. The images and videos are placed in a way where they aid the text, not get in the way of it. And navigating from one page to another is easy as the navigation bar appears laid along the top of each page the user visists.
Intuitive?: After momentarily feeling overwhelmed by the content, I began browsing the site, and came to realize that it is laid out in a very intuitive manner. I never got lost, or couldn't find my way back to a page, and I alwas knew which news section I was in based on the navigation and headings throughout the site.
