- Evaluations put online for archive classes; Kevin is already working on this
- More class syllabi online; Marta and Marti will speak to Bastian about this
- More panel discussions
- disaster recovery; to be discussed further with Cloonan & Bastian
- ethics; to be discussed further with Bastian & Whorley
- possibly co-sponsor these events with Panopticon, SLA, etc.
- Field trips
- plan to have interested individuals arrange field trips--less SCoSAA hands-on work
- Marta suggested visiting Mass Historical

- NEA will take over job shadow program
- Laura Cass is the NEA student liaison; she will be a good resource for better cooperation between SCoSAA and NEA

- Looked at website markup; goal is to keep site simple for future webmasters
- Suggested adding some sort of events/calendar page and link on main GSLIS website

- In 2008-09 school year SCoSAA spent all $1000 of the budget

- Marta mentioned the list serve and asked everyone to sign up
- Field Trips
- Marta mentioned signing up for field trips to the Massachusetts Historical Society; most 438 classes will attend MHS, but for those who do not, this would be an option; a sign up sheet was sent around
- Marta mentioned a future trip to the JFK Library; future dates will be announced through the list serve
- Service opportunities
- Kate mentioned signing up to help at the Beaver Day School; people are needed to help organize; a sign up sheet was sent around

- Laura discussed NEA and attending the NEA conference November 6-7, 2009; session reporters are still needed for the conference--contact Laura Cass for more information
- Marta announced Richard Cox will be the keynote speaker and the event will be held at UMass Boston
- NEA Outreach committee is looking for a student to join the committee, for those who are interested in participating contact Marta or Marti
- Disaster Panel
- Marti announced that a panel will be held in November 5, 2009 at 7pm to discuss disaster recovery; the panel will include a number of guest speakers from the greater Boston area; more information will be sent closer to the time; Marti encouraged students to send questions to the SCoSAA email

- Christina and Tim discussed the obsolete media project

- A representative from NEA will be at the next meeting to discuss future involvement

- Marti discussed ways to contact SCoSAA for future questions and sources of information

February 1 2010
- JFK Library
- We will be visiting the JFK Library on Thursday, November 12th at 2pm. A sign up sheet was passed around.
- Advising Day, October 28th, 12-2pm
- We are looking for volunteers to sit at tables and discuss the archives program and SCoSAA with incoming students. Any student who is interested in volunteering should contact Marta or Marti.
- Dr. Saad Eskander, October 22nd, 7pm
- Dr. Eskander will discuss his experiences as the National Library Director of Iraq.
- Disaster Panel, November 5th, 7pm
- We will be hosting a panel on disaster recovery featuring local experts who have worked on significant disaster recovery efforts.
- Obsolete Media Collection
- While we have had a good initial response, we are still looking for examples of obsolete media to add the collection. For more information about the project please see the SCoSAA website.

- Survey will be opened on survey monkey this week for voting

- NEA to possibly help with Job Shadow program
- Co-chairs opened it up for discussion about the ethical implications of SCoSAA Co-Chairs matching internship sites

- Mentioned possible new course ideas; if people feel there are gaps in the program, they should contact an archives professor for input on course offerings

- Digital stewardship is a new class
- Martha Mahard
- Specializes in photographic archives
- Introducing new course on concepts in cultural heritage information found in libraries, archives, and museums; will be offered in Fall 2010
- Tywanna Whorley
- Teaches archive foundational courses and intellectual freedom; spent 2 years working at BU processing MLK collections
- Kathy Wisser
- Teaches descriptive standards; chair of a working group on new archival standards focusing on creators
- Students interested in archival standards and greater involvement in SAA should contact Prof. Wisser
- Emphasized the benefits of being involved in professional organizations
