Officers (2009-2010)

At the April meeting, SCoSAA elected new officers for Fall 2009 - Spring 2010. The results are as follows:

CO-CHAIRS

Marta Crilly - Co-chairMarta Crilly
Marta is a dual-degree Archives/History student. She grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee (a mere thirty minutes from Dolly Parton's birthplace) and attended the University of Tennessee where she learned to love fried snickers bars, men's basketball, and obnxious orange clothing. She is very excited to be working with Simmons SCoSAA this year!

Marti Verso
Marti Verso - Co-chairMarti is a dual archives/history student, entering her second year of the program. She originally hails from Buffalo, NY, which she strongly feels is the best place on earth. Marti would like to work in a museum setting eventually but is realistic and will take any job offered to her. She is very excited for this year in SCoSAA and all the activities we have planned!

The co-chairs:

  • Schedule and moderate monthly meetings
  • Coordinate events (field trips, workshops, panels) and volunteer opportunities
  • Moderate SCoSAA e-mail acccount and listserv
  • Act as student representatives to the archives faculty
  • Attend GSLIS Orientation to speak with incoming archives students
  • Order food for events

SECRETARY

Christina Thompson
Shannon Struble - TreasurerChristina is a dual-degree archives/history student. She grew up in Kansas City, MO (Go Royals!) and attended Central Methodist University where she majored in history and overachievement. Her dream job would be working in a shoe museum thereby combining her love for shoes and museums.

TREASURER

Shannon Struble
Shannon Struble - TreasurerShannon is a dual-degree archives/history student with three classes and a thesis to go until she graduates (not that she's counting or anything). She grew up in Michigan but moved east to attend Smith College, where she majored in history. She has a passion for rare books and would like to work in a rare books or special collections department after she graduates (in nine months!!). This is Shannon's second year as SCoSAA's treasurer, but she is looking forward to another great year with the group.

WEBMASTER

Kevin French
Kevin French - WebmasterKevin is a part-time Archives student in his first year. Kevin is new to the East Coast, having lived in the Midwest most of his life, but is getting used to taking his life in his hands when he hops on his bike in Boston. He is quite excited to support SCoSAA by serving as webmaster for the coming year.

  • Helps to publicize the website

ARMA REPRESENTATIVES

Kevin French - WebmasterKate Boylan
Kate is, technically, a dual-degree Archives/History student... though she is completing library work first. She grew up on the north shore of Staten Island, New York City (the forgotten borough). Kate really likes reference (you can find her on Monday evenings staffing Beatley Library's Reference Desk), and would like to combine reference work in audiovisual archives, and/or museums, and/or historical societies, and/or academic libraries, and/or music archives (Kate has a lot of competing interests). She is very excited to be working with SCoSAA and ARMA this year!

David Scherer
Dave is a dual-degree Archives/History student entering his second year in the program. He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Purdue University (which means he's a Hoosier by Birth, but Boilermaker by Grace!). David hopes to work with a University Archives or a Presidential Library, but would honestly take whatever he gets. He is very excited to represent SCoSAA at the monthly ARMA meetings this coming year.

The ARMA representatives:

  • Attend monthly ARMA meeting in Boston
  • Report back to SCoSAA about ARMA and records management
  • Facilitate interaction with ARMA
  • Assist co-chairs as needed

STUDENT/FACULTY REPRESENTATIVE - ARCHIVES LIAISON

Katherine DunnKatherine Dunn
I'm a second-year student interested in working in both libraries and archives. I'm excited about the chance to report back to the student archives group (SCoSAA) some of what's happening in the school (and vice versa). I also work for GSLIS as the dean's editorial fellow.
