The drawbacks are that it uses technical jargon and so an amateur user might have a hard time following along. The other is that they support so many sites it can be difficult to know that the sites are all reliable. OSTG influences or controls many of the sites that are supporting Open Sourcing. But, the parent site has lots to offer to those in the business.

The site does offer a forum for people to list happenings of interest and new developments. There are current developments and top stories that do provide the sense of it being a place to gather the news of the industry.

Although this site is for Linux users it is maintained by OSTG. This affects the reliability but the site still has a good layout and design. It has easy links to Linux related warnings or updates. The news links are mainly Novell or Linux related. The site has a specific focus and is not a good site for overall information.
