Known as JODI, this web journal is supported by the British Computer Society and the Oxford University Press.
It is very easy to navigate.
Strengths: This is a peer reviewed journal that is updated on a regular basis.
Weaknesses: This is a British journal, so some spelling may be different. A new window does not open when you click
on link within an article.

Within the United States, you are able to search on a specific region or state to locate a digital library.
Weakness: In some cases, you may have to register as a library user in order to access information.

Easy to navigate tool for students in grades K - 12.
Stregths: Search by subject in order to find varied information.
Weaknesses: Clicking on a link does not open a new window,

Strengths: Easy to navigate, multitude of information available.
Weaknesses: Font is small, apparently to have more information in a smaller space.

Local and trade directory from England and Wales for the years 1750 to 1919.
Strengths: Explicit directions how to use this site.
Weaknesses: Some of the Old English penmanship is difficult to read.
- Perseus Digital Library

Website with information on the classics: Greek, Latin, Renaissance, etc..
Strengths: Maps and timelines available. This really can put things in perspective for students.
Weaknesses: Takes some time to figure out how to navigate, but once that is understood, it is informative.
- NCSU Libraries: Digital Library Initiatives

Site with two main sections. Video, audio and computer data is collected by the Usability Research Lab
section to help teach the benefits of user-center approach to design and to support the usability testing.
The digital media lab creates digital formats by converting all types of media.
Strengths: New technology constantly used in classes.
Weaknesses: Not all information is available to those not in classes.

Strengths: Easy to navigate and search by alphabetical titles and subjects.
Weaknesses: Drug interaction tables require a download of Plucker, an free, open source application.
- Digital Library of Mathematical Functions Mockup

Site is a Mockup of information from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Editors request feedback in order to make the site a viable and usable one. They are attempting to
update a handbook first published in 1964.
Strengths: Innovative idea with a plan for the best possible result.
Weaknesses: Still a mockup.

Strengths: Updated frequently, this site has many books that might otherwise be out of print.
Weaknesses: Not easy to browse, easier to find by author or title.
- International Children's Digital Library
A project of the University of Maryland and Internet Archive
Easy for parents and children ages 3 - 13 to navigate. 545 books available.
Strengths: Easy selection according to reading ability. Over twenty languages available.
Weaknesses: Picture books take awhile to download.
- Internet Library of Early Journals

Images of digitised 18th and 19th century journals. This was a joint project
by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford.
Strengths: Includes associeated bibliographic data.
Weaknesses: No additional material will be added as this project was finished in 1999.
- ACM Portal: ACM Digital Library
by the Association for Computing Machinery
This site offers the full text of every article published by the Association for Computing Machinery.
This includes journals, magazines, and newsletters.
Strengths: Cross reference search is available as a pilot program
Weaknesses: Some sections may need a sign in and password.

Gives list of possible places to purchase individual books.
Strengths: Great searching tool, with short descriptions.
Gives descriptions of various awards from different countries.
Weaknesses: Does not have text of books, but a great searching tool.
