II. PROJECTS AND PARTICIPATION: (50%) 1. Group Presentation & Lead Discussion Project (15%)
Throughout the
semester, you will work in groups of four to five to present to
the class a summary of a chapter in Part III Evaluation of Library Services of
Matthew's book. There will be seven class sessions during which a group will give a presentation
about a chapter,
describe an evaluation idea, raise
questions to the class, and lead discussion for 20
minutes. For presentation dates and chapter titles, go
to the class schedule page.
2. Term Project: Developing an Evaluation Research Proposal (25%) During the
semester, you will be working with a fellow classmate to develop a research proposal on
a topic that you have chosen and considered to be important to evaluation
research in Library
and Information Science. You will be called upon in class to make informal reports of your
proposal development status prior to the final presentation. 3. Class Participation and Presentation (10%) Attendance is expected for every class meeting. This is an intensive class on evaluation research methods and students need to attend each session. In the event of an unavoidable absence, students should inform the instructor and make arrangements to pick up lecture notes and handouts. Class participation includes attendance, engaging in class discussion, involvement in presentations and other in-class activities.
