Miscellaneous Necessaries You must put all five of these files in the same directory, along with all of the homework files that are to be graded. Each homework assignment (and its homework files) must be in its own folder. The homework file is presented in a format that's easiest for the students to take. It's easier for you to edit with a few modifications. On a Mac, open the preferences and check the boxes for gridlines, horizontal scrolling, row & column headers, and sheet tabs. After you've finished editing, uncheck them all before your final save and distribution. If you use a PC, you'll have to find these check boxes yourself. Or switch to a Mac. Any time you move or copy the two answer files into a new folder (directory), you need to open them (ignore links when prompted), then save and close the files before using them (or the links get screwed up - feel free to send a nastygram to Bill Gates and his toadies). If they do get screwed up, you can use the search and replace command to fix them. All files are (c) 2007 Geoffrey FW Turner. Feel free to use them, adapt them, modify them, give them to colleagues, whatever. But please don't be such a big jerk that you try to commercialize my work - at least not without me. Helpful Tips When you edit the grade.xls file, disable macros. Run the grade.xls file with a couple of students' assignments first to work out any bugs that come up. Feel free to email me with any cool modifications you make (turnerg@simmons.edu); I'd love to see them. Feel free to email me with questions or comments too. I'll do my best to answer you promptly, but remember this isn't my full-time job.
