Game Modding at the Library

At the Wiggin Memorial Library in Stratham, New Hampshire they partner with the workshop “Girls Who Code”. The workshop focuses on providing teen girls with a basis of programming knowledge that can lead to a passion later on in life. At the McKraken County Library in Paducah, Kentucky they partner with ALA, the local Boys and Girls Club, and community makerspaces to provide coding classes to library users ranging from third grade to high school.

ALA’s website provides resources and information on popular games that libraries could provide to their patrons. Included in the list are resources such as Scratch and Steamworks which provide for user game developing and designs.

At the Boston Public Library, the teen space offers an open lab 3-4 times a week for all teens to work on computers and virtually do whatever they like. This would be a great time for teens to continue to explore game modding and coding.
