Apple Crisp

I created this recipe when I wanted to make apple crisp for a friend's summer party, but wasn't satisfied with the recipes I saw online. I combined their best attributes and added some details of my own to create this tasty dessert.

Apple Filling Ingredients

  • 6 apples, peeled and cut-up
  • 2 tb. orange juice
  • 2 tb. lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tb. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 c. quick oats
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 crushed graham crackers
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick butter, diced
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Butter bottom and sides of a 2-inch-deep square pan
  3. Combine apple filling ingredients
  4. Put finished filling into buttered pan
  5. Combine topping ingredients (use a fork to make sure it's crumbly)
  6. Sprinkle topping over apple filling
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes (until topping is golden brown)
