Biography of my work experience and more about me!
My name is Julia Mazur and I am a Children's Librarian at Lucy Robbins Welles Library in Newington, CT.
My Journey as a Librarian
I have been working at Lucy Robbins Welles Library since 2018, where I started out as a page. In May of 2023, I was promoted to two substitute positions in both the reference department and the circulation department. In August of 2023, I was promoted to a part-time position in the Children's Department! I run the Storytime For Ones, as well as Family Storytime. Although I am new to the children's department, I have had amazing experiences already and I know I will develop my skills for this position in the coming months.
Previous Programs
During my time as a Children's Librarian, I have worked on several programs for kids of all ages. In addition to my weekly Storytime for Ones, I also have a weekly evening Family Storytime. These are for children ages 2-12 and provides stories, songs, and crafts!
Besides the Storytimes, I have also created Toddler Fingerpainting, Storytime Yoga, Princess Storytime, Gift Wrapping Workshop for the holiday season, and facilitated a Superhero Traning event. One of my upcoming programs that I've created is a Rockin' Music series, in which kids get to learn how to play an instrument and bring it home to practice! The instrument for the first part of the series is a harmonica, which is one of my favorite instruments to play.
