Hi there!
Here are some projects from students in
cs101 www.computing.you
at Simmons College in Boston, MA.

All these projects were done as one-week assignments, and none of the students was a computer science major (at least not at the time she did the project - some subsequently decided to go further in computer science).

In fact, these are students who were not science majors.(Although there certainly are plenty of science majors at Simmons)

They are just having fun, learning to publish on the web.

The first five projects were done by freshman very early in the semester, and I put them up to show you what five students like about Simmons.

Cara
chose to write about Boston and her roomates. Cara started out as a Graphic Design major, but this project made her decide on doing a double major in Graphic Design and Computer Science.

Eliza
is having a wonderful time rowing Crew. She really makes the sport come alive!

Tiffany
was surprised to discover that she likes our requirements that ensure a broad liberal education. At Simmons we call them the "Modes of Inquiry". They helped Tiffany explore her academic interests. She also loves living in the dorms.

Elthea
loves Boston, even though it is her home town. Elthea has given us a fabulous tour of historic Boston and the Freedom Trail, including the Black Heritage Trail. Elthea loves chemistry and is planning on doing the double degree program in Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Lauren
Gives us a really good insight into what it’s like to be a freshman at Simmons

The last few projects were done by sophomores and juniors in the
course.

Meg
is a Woman’s Studies major.  She is enjoying both Boston and being near the center of life in the Unitarian Universalist church.

Meghan went to London during her junior year.  She contrasts Boston and London

Lauren
is a nursing major who is really loving both her class room and clinical work.

Ashley
is a Political Science and International Relations major, and really likes the fact that Simmons is “always under construction”.

Katie
is an English major who is getting a tremendous amount out of both her courses and professors.

Kristina
is a double major in English and Communications, with a minor in Art.  This site shows how she is using her skills. Be sure to check out the clubs she is active in too!

Natasha
is an Communications major with a great sense of humor about Simmons.
