IMSA, the International Multicultural Students Asssociation, is a diverse group of women who bring events to campus that celebrate ethnic diversity. We bring speakers, lecturers, have students share their personal experiences before the community, have a food festival, and host a big cultural show. I used to be Secretary, but decided to change my focus to being Chair woman of different Culture Shock committees.
Culture Shock is a celebration of diversity performance of different ethnic dances, singers, fashion shows and skits done by our own campus's cultural and random organizations. Simmons College's IMSA works along with Wentworth Institute of Technology's MSA and we do a big performance with the joint schools for both of our campuses. It's a lot of fun, hard work, and represents a lot of different cultures and ethnicities.
I chair the Performance committee, and co-chair the decorations committee. The Performance committee basically oversees that we have all the contact organizations information, the rehearsal dates posted, and review the basic contact of each performance. We also set the order of performances, and are in charge of the fashion show. The Decorations committee oversees getting all the necessary decorations for the show.
Our performance this year is March 23rd and we have a great show planned, so try and come to see it!
