Queen Mary's is, like London itself, a whole new world. It is a much
larger school than Simmons and that was really a shock to me at first. I couldn't believe it
when they gave me my "degree candidate number" and I had to put that on all my exams and papers
instead of my name! But, slowly, I got used to the foreign school system and surprisingly difficult
to understand accents, and I fell in love with my College, my flatmates and my new world . . .
What an amazing feeling!

Unlike American Universities, British and many European schools have Student's Unions which are the central social eutopias for any "Uni" student. The Student's Union at QMW has a bar, called The Draper's Arms (or just "Draper's) a night club called E1, a noodle bar, restaurant and a general store with everything you could possibly need. Plus, with your student ID card, everything is amazingly inexpensive. See, in England, they accept the fact that students are always broke, even though they only pay a fraction of what we do to go to University.

Even though your social life is important and verycompelling in London, academics are always important
too . . . I took some really interesting classes at Queen Mary and Westfield and you should check out their site to see for yourself. They have the whole course listings to give you a sense of the huge range of classes they offer. I loved Intro to Film Studies and Victorian Poetry with Cornelia Cook . . . She was really cool . . .

P.S. I fell in love with one of my flatmates at QMW and I'm moving
back to London to be with him in June! Yea! Sorry, just had to say that . . .
