Welcome

The Edwin Smith Historical Museum (ESHM) is a museum collection within the Westfield Athenaeum. The Westfield Athenaeum is a library located at 6 Elm St, Westfield, MA and can be contacted at (413) 568-7833 for more information. We have many notable exhibits, including an exhibit of Victorian Items, a recreation of a colonial cabin, and a vast collection of items related to the local whip industry. We are always trying to build new ways to engage our community! Come see announcements for upcoming events, or check out what's new on our rotating collection page. This webpage will allow you to see a few items on display in the physical museum. To see the full exhibit, we open most Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Please contact the library prior to your visit to verify museum hours. The purpose of the museum is to celebrate Westfield’s extensive and intriguing history and display a wide variety of topics and people. Feel free to go to exhibits to see some of our items, activities to learn what’s currently happening at the museum, or go to the museum collection page to learn more about some items not on display as well as the famous figures of Westfield in more detail.
