Beautiful Boston
Go to:
The skyline of Boston is accented with tall skyscrapers, blue highlights, colonial churches
and majestic bridges. A new building is gracing the landscape that was built in the last year. The infamous
"Big Dig" adds a kind of mystery to the map, with new structures and roads springing up every day. There are
parks for relaxing and little streets with brick sidewalks . . . Very reminicent on England! All in all, it's
a beautiful thing to behold and here are some of my favorites to experience.
- The Hancock Tower, in all it's blue glory, nestled in the heart of Copley
Square, is, by far, the most beautiful sight in Boston. The way the old,
gothic church is mirrored by the huge reflective glass panes of the
building, the trees, the fountains . . . It is an absolutely breath-taking
scene.
- Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden, off Park Street T stop and Arlington T
stop respectively, provide a place of solace for us Bostonians. Peaceful, beautiful, fun and
refreshing, whatever time of year its a pure relief from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Yet, just beyond lie fun little shops, famous Newbury Street shoping and wonderful places
to get a bite to eat. And, in the dead of winter, get excited about the cold at the Frog
Pond--a great little ice rink in the middle of the Commons. Don't miss it!
- Finally, the Christain Science Center building and the Boston Reflecting Pool give
a calming sense of flow and spirit to the city. Soft lights reflecting on perfectly calm water,
the glow of stained glass from the Cathedral giving the scene a magical feel . . . My friends
and I walk here from campus to streatch our legs and feel the grandiose beauty of the architacture
and the simple peace of the water.
